An eclectic week.

A few articles about the LMS scene, and among them is a good blog post that rounds up what people are saying about the current state of the LMS.

The short piece by Cal Newport on productivity during the Apollo program is about how people survived without email, but is also a good description of the difference between goal-directed attention and stimulus-driven attention.  A fun read.

And the one feature article this week offers tips for managing innovation in an organization.

Enjoy!

FEATURED ARTICLE

3 Tips for Innovation and Efficiency in Organizations
          Harvard Business Review, 10/3/14
"To be nimble and innovative, part of the key is pushing decision authority as low as
possible (but not lower).  What's as low as possible?  That's going to change from
situation to situation.  But the key is acknowledging that the more senior you make
your decision makers, the more waste you'll require of those looking to
experiment... the only thing that will happen is your execs will end up drowning in a
sea of meetings and nothing will ever get done."
